On April 10, a presentation of the investment and economic potential of Bashkortostan took place in Vienna (Austria). It was attended by business representatives and officials of the Republic of Austria. Welcoming speech to the participants of the presentation was delivered by the Acting Head of Bashkortostan Radiy Khabirov, who started his speech in German. 

– Since I am making only the first attempts to learn German, then I will continue to speak in Russian, – said the head of the region. – But at the same time, I promise that if Austrian investments in Bashkortostan exceed 5 billion euros, I pledge to speak the Viennese dialect.

Radiy Khabirov thanked the Austrian colleagues for their warm welcome and for their interest in Bashkortostan, one of the largest and most developed regions of the Russian Federation.

– Today we have a good opportunity to tell you about our wonderful region, – said the acting Head of Bashkortostan. – About why it is worth living and working in Bashkortostan. Why it is necessary to invest money here, as well as to come with serious investments and business ideas. Come to visit, travel, relax and improve health. We are open for cooperation and ready to discuss any proposals. We strive for development step by step making our Republic more beautiful and stronger.

According to Radiy Khabirov, Bashkortostan maintains trade and economic relations with 118 countries of the world and is one of the most active exporting regions. The volume of foreign trade turnover of the Republic last year amounted to about 4.5 billion euros.

The region plans to reopen its trade offices abroad. One of the first offices will open its doors in Austria, with which the turnover is steadily growing. In 2018 alone, it grew by almost 18 percent. In Bashkortostan, there are ten enterprises with Austrian capital. Among the examples of successful cooperation, the head of the republic named a launch of the ceramic tiles and dry construction mixes production by the Lasselsberger company, the Kronospan woodworking plant, the production of mobile hoisting equipment by the Palfinger company.

– We are ready to develop joint projects in the construction industry, medicine, energy, utilities, engineering, in the field of high and energy-efficient technologies, – said Radiy Khabirov.

The Acting Head of Bashkortostan said that since June, direct flights between Ufa and Vienna would be started. Sale of tickets for flights has already begun.

The head of the region also invited representatives of the Austrian business community to take part in the “TransUrals” investment campaign, which will be held in June.

In Vienna, Radiy Khabirov met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Austria Dmitry Lyubinsky, Vice President of the Association of Industrialists of Austria Hubert Berch, Chairman of the Tourism Committee of the National Council of the Parliament of Austria Gerald Hauser and Chairman of the Finance Committee of the National Council of Parliament, Chairman of the Parliamentary Friendship Group of Austria — Russia Karlheinz Kopf. During the meetings, prospects for strengthening cooperation between Bashkortostan and Austria, expanding investment cooperation were discussed.
