On August 19, All-Russia Investment Sabantuy Transurals-2020 began in Sibay. It gathered representatives of federal and regional state institutions, of Russian and foreign business. It invites investors, experts, famous state and public figures. The event is organized by the Agency for Strategic Initiatives and the Government of the Republic of Bashkortostan.

The key event of the forum was its plenary session INNOREGION: Cities You Want to Live in. The plenary session was participated by Svetlana Chupsheva, CEO of the Agency for Strategic Initiatives, Radiy Khabirov, the Head of the Republic of Bashkortostan, Andrey Nazarov, First Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of the Republic of Bashkortostan, Irina Makieva, Deputy Chairperson of VEB.RF State Corporation, CEO of Monotowns Development Fund NPO, Alexander Sinitsyn, President of the Center for Strategic Research Fund, Grigoriy Rudoy, Director on Mining at UMMC. The session was moderated by Aleksey Venediktov, Aleksey Venediktov, Editor-in-Chief of Echo of Moscow.

Radiy Khabirov started the plenary session with good news. Rosstat Russian Federal State Statistics Service had reported that during the first 6 months of 2020 the amount of investments in the Republic of Bashkortostan had grown by 8.9% despite of the pandemic and associated economic hurdles. It is a good, promising sign. This is our polestar that shows us we are going the right way, he said. He reminded that by the end of 2019 Bashkortostan had risen from 16th to 9th place in terms of the investment attractiveness index. It entered the top ten of Russian regions preferred by investors. Radiy Khabirov pointed out that these achievements had been reached thanks to the support of the Agency for Strategic Initiatives. They had done a great job. they formed tools for investment attractions, helped adopt an up-to-date investment legislation, arranged an economic zone with one of the most efficient business protection programs operating.

Investments play a significant role in creating the cities you want to live in. Svetlana Chupsheva told that there are clear assessment criteria that allow to understand how attractive a certain town is for living. You need to answer three questions. Are you okay with your living in this city? Can you imagine your kid living and developing in this city? Would you advise you friend to move to this city? If you answer these questions you will understand if the city administration is doing the rights things managing the city, if it is aimed at making people feel better living here and at making them stay. She believes it is important to give the youth a chance to talk. It is important to let school children and student see opportunities for their personal actualization in their hometown. It is crucial to engage them in designing the city environment, to give them a chance to reach out to employers and investors. Clubs for strategic initiatives will be run by heads of companies, universities, schools, students and young people. All together they will help solve complicated issues and understand the urgent needs.

It was noticed that a lot had been done in Bashkortostan to create towns you'd want to live in. It is proven by the fact that in comparison to the past years in 2020 the migration index in the republic has a negative value. The amount of young people moving away dropped by 1.7 times.

The meeting discussed that towns should become inclusive for comfortability and adaptability of people at various ages, of families with kids, of senior citizens and of youth.

It was highlighted that time after time requirements to city management change. Irina Makieva, Deputy Chairperson of VEB.RF State Corporation, CEO of Monotowns Development Fund said, they should quit being housing mayors. It is task number one to city leaders. It is vital to struggle for complex development and make towns more comfortable for living. This morning Ufa and Sterlitamak presented their territory development projects. They said how they were going to re-boot the towns through the VEB.RF training program. It would be right to engage the Institute for Developing Cities of Bashkortostan. Specialists from this Institute would help develop master shots for Ufa and Sterlitamak. Thus, we can combine what we developed while learning and put it down onto master shots for these towns.

The city you want to live in is a territory designed for people to bring to life their ideas and release their potential. The adaptable and smart city will meet the social demand and quickly react on the issues inside its environment; it is the city to make your life enjoyable. Transurals 2020 has become a place for experience exchange, discussions and decision making that would boost the number of such cities in Russia.
