Ambassador Dmitriy Krutoy Emphasizes Zauralye Investment Sabantuy and Ufa 10th Forum of Regions' Role in Strengthening Belarus-Bashkortostan Ties
Dmitriy Krutoy, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to Russia, expressed deep appreciation for the significant role played by Zauralye-2024 All-Russia Investment Sabantuy and the 10th Forum of Regions, held in Ufa, in strengthening the bonds between Belarus and Bashkortostan. He stressed that the involvement of Belarusian businesses in such events offers numerous advantages, particularly in fostering connections that transcend the two capitals - Minsk and Moscow. These platforms provide Belarusian companies with the opportunity to establish direct contacts with representatives of regional authorities and businesses in Russia. Consequently, they forge long-term partnerships, secure significant deals and contracts, and gain access to local markets and resources.

“Such attention from the President to regional affairs, alongside his personal engagements with Russian governors and the ongoing expansion of joint cooperation and investment ventures, including new initiatives like constructing shopping centers and trade houses of Belarus in Russian regions, as well as facilitating direct flights with Minsk and other regional cities, serve as the cornerstone for our comprehensive integration program in the near future. That is why we draw inspiration from regional inputs, fostering direct and robust connections, and enriching intergovernmental agreements with regional projects in areas like machine tool manufacturing, microelectronics, and shipbuilding, leveraging the strengths of each region. Life thrives there, and we are eager to actively participate,” emphasized Dmitriy Krutoy, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to Russia.

As of now, the two republics have established economic, cultural, and inter-parliamentary ties, with significant infrastructure projects currently under development and implementation.

“We are actively fostering cooperation with the Republic of Belarus, with numerous projects already underway in Bashkortostan. This year, our delegation, led by the Head of the Republic Radiy Khabirov, conducted an official visit to Belarus. The delegation's efforts allowed us to align our strategies and reach new agreements. These agreements include the establishment of a second joint venture with Amkodor JSC, with an investment of 8 billion rubles for the production of large specialized equipment for excavation works. Additionally, agreements have been reached with the 1AK-GROUP group of companies for the construction of a battery separator plant, with an investment of almost 42 billion rubles, and a plant for the production of lithium batteries, with an investment exceeding 1.5 billion rubles. These developments underscore the dynamic nature of the cooperation between our republics, which is progressing with an eye toward long-term prospects, ” stated Rustam Muratov, First Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of the Republic of Bashkortostan.

In the realm of industrial cooperation, Bashneftegeofizika and Seismotekhnika enterprise from Gomel have initiated the production of geophysical research equipment under the brand name Batyr. Moreover, the Minsk Automobile Plant and Ufa Tram and Trolleybus Plants are collaborating on a project to develop a new high-capacity trolleybus. A contract has been secured for the supply of 260 machine kits, and efforts are underway to enhance electric transport in Ufa. This collaboration has already enabled the company to capture one-third of the Russian market for trolleybuses and electric buses with dynamic recharging. These initiatives underscore the active and forward-looking nature of cooperation between our republics.

Belarus ranks among the TOP 5 countries in terms of foreign trade turnover (FTT) in the region. Additionally, both republics possess untapped potential to expand and diversify export offerings.

“Belarus stands as one of the region's primary allies on the global stage. As of the end of 2023, the country held the 4th position in the list of FFT partner states, with a substantial share of 6.3%. Notably, over 50% of the mutual trade turnover between Bashkortostan and Belarus comprised export supplies to the Republic of Belarus. Key areas prioritized for further development of interaction between the republics in terms of exports encompass sunflower, safflower, or cotton oils, wheat and meslin, medication, as well as components of railroad locomotives, tram motor cars, or rolling stock,” stated Margarita Bolycheva, Minister of Foreign Economic Relations and Congress Activity of the Republic of Bashkortostan.

The prospects for interaction between Bashkortostan and Belarus signify substantial potential for the advancement of trade and economic cooperation. Discussions on new avenues of growth at Zauralye-2024 Investment Sabantuy are poised to unveil promising opportunities for bolstering partnership relations and broadening the scope of trade operations between the two regions.
