The upcoming Zauralye-2024 6th All-Russia Investment Sabantuy, taking place from May 24 to 26 in Sibay, Republic of Bashkortostan, will focus on discussing the prospects for partnership with Central Asian countries. The forum is a significant international business event of the year, featuring delegations from Eurasian Economic Union countries as honored guests. The Investment Sabantuy will hold meetings of the inter-government working groups between Bashkortostan, Uzbekistan, and Kazakhstan, as well as a dedicated session on Islamic investments.
“In 2023, the commodity turnover between Russia and Central Asia exceeded $44 billion,“ announced Mikhail Galuzin, Deputy Head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation. According to the report of the Centre for Regional Policy Development, Bashkortostan is recognized as one of Russia's top three regions in developing international cooperation. The region interacts with more than 100 countries worldwide.
In the past two years, the commodity turnover between Bashkortostan and Central Asian states has grown by over 15%, making up 21% of the Republic's total foreign trade. Radiy Khabirov, Head of the Republic of Bashkortostan, stated that this indicator is expected to further increase to 25% by the end of 2024. This highlights great opportunities and prospects for partnership between Bashkortostan and Central Asian countries.
“Our strategic location at the crossroads of Europe and Asia empowers us to adeptly navigate the intricacies of the global economic world,“ noted Radiy Khabirov. “During this challenging period of our country's development, we've demonstrated remarkable agility in responding to evolving economic dynamics.“ The Republic's key partners include Central Asian countries in the east and Belarus in the west.
The Head of Bashkortostan noted that the Republic shares many common features and mutual interests with Central Asian countries in various spheres, including economy, culture and social sphere. The region is actively pursuing economic diversification through the development of industrial cooperation and collaborative projects. Bashkortostan has established representative offices within Russian trade representations in Kazakhstan, Belarus, China, Türkiye, and Uzbekistan. There are also plans to open such an office in the Arab Emirates and Iran. Currently, projects exceeding 164 billion RUB are being implemented in collaboration with foreign partners.
The Head of the Region highlighted the significance of economic and political stability, along with the observance of transparent rules of the game, for businesses. Radiy Khabirov also noted that cooperation with Central Asian countries is positively progressing, fostering favorable conditions for business development.
Zauralye-2024 Forum will serve as a platform for discussing the prospects for partnership between Bashkortostan and Central Asia countries, undoubtedly bringing new opportunities for the development and enhancement of cooperation between these regions.
